Social Responsibility

Find out more about how Ethical Power invests in the community.

At Ethical Power, our purpose is to make a positive impact on people and the environment. Our core vehicle for positive change is our business case, building renewable energy capacity, but investing in the community goes beyond even that.

From landowner engagement and community support initiatives to fundraising for children’s charities and supporting youth sports, we put our social responsibility at the centre of everything we do.

Community Engagement

We firmly believe that communities are key stakeholders in any renewable energy project. That’s why we work with local groups and residents to deliver solutions that fit their needs and goals.

Community consultations are the foundation of every project, giving local residents and business owners the opportunity to help shape the project for years to come and learn more about how they can benefit. From biodiversity net gain to support for local businesses, we embed community engagement into our projects from day one.

We also work with local schools to help inform and educate children on renewable energy and contribute to select local causes and projects. This also extends to actively prioritising working with local businesses during the construction and operation of the project.

Health and Wellbeing

Ethical Power is it’s people, and the wellbeing of our team is core priority. As employers, we offer a range of provisions that help promote positive mental, physical, and financial wellbeing.

  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

We offer everyone who works for us free access to a wellness app. Through this app, our team members can receive:

    • Face-to-face, telephone or online video counselling for themselves, their partner, or dependents.

    • Digital support programmes including 12 modules of Computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT) and specific menopause support.

    • 24/7 telephone helplines
    • Money management and debt support.

    • Access to a secondary physical health app, complete with fitness and health support.
    • And much more.
  • Mental Health First Aiders

We have over a dozen mental health first aiders across our offices and on-site.

Our mental health first aiders are here to provide guidance and support to anyone in need, either directly or by signposting the most appropriate professional services.

Mental health first aiders are available to site staff, thanks to our SHEQ advisors, who also have the opportunity to train as mental health first aiders.

  • Other Wellness Initiatives

To provide extra support to our site teams, the SHEQ team have introduced the ‘Park Up and Offload’ initiative. Now, a SHEQ advisor’s first port of call when visiting a site is to create a safe, confidential space for everyone on site to open up about their wellbeing and discuss any issues/concerns.

We have also enabled wellbeing conversations on our digital SHEQ platform, Safety Culture, that can be accessed via the QR codes on site.

Ethical Power staff also have access to a free financial advisor once a month, who offers advice and signposting for any and all financial concerns.

Sponsorships

Through our sponsorships, we aim to support the healthy development of our youth, as well as to promote conversations around sustainability and the climate, such as with Team GB Bobsleigh pilot Josh Hudson and his presentations at the Green Phoenix Festival about how climate change is impacting his sport.
