Tom Quigley

Tom is a Chartered Accountant with 28 years’ experience in investment banking, corporate finance and advisory roles across diverse industry sectors; he now holds several independent advisory roles, among others as a Board member of UBS Channel Islands.

Stephen Williams

Stephen is a qualified chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience growing technology and energy companies across international boundaries. Prior to joining Ethical Power, he was the CFO at Sonnedix for 8 years during which the company grew £2bn in value with over 1.5GW of operational assets. As Ethical Power’s CFO, Stephen is responsible for the financial growth and stability of the company whilst acting as a key interface with external investors and lenders.

Stuart Whiteford

Stuart has worked within development, construction and operational sectors of the sustainable infrastructure and in broader real estate and engineering industries in the UK and abroad for the last 20 years. With a background in geotechnical and environmental engineering, Stuart had worked on major projects and in energy consulting capacity. Previously Managing Director of Ethical Power, he now heads up a Ethical Power’s affiliated development company and takes the lead on deal origination and building long-term partnerships with clients.

Suzie Gilhooly

Suzie has a wealth of experience as a corporate, commercial, finance and projects lawyer. She deals with all legal aspects of M&A work, contract negotiations, financing and project due diligence. She works closely with the development and operational teams on transactional and administrative project management. Suzie is committed to ensuring the legal team at Ethical Power functions at the highest level to provide support to the ever-expanding ambitions of the Group.

Nick Wagstaffe

Previously in private practice since the late 80s, Nick has over 25 years of experience advising corporate, private equity and high net worth individual clients in their UK and overseas strategic and investment transactional needs, including M&A, equity and debt financings and joint ventures. Using his knowledge and expertise gained working in various industries, Nick leads the entirety of the Ethical Power Group’s legal needs in project conception, financing, delivery and realisation, both nationally and internationally.

Spencer Jansen

Chief Technology Officer

Spencer has over 30 years’ experience at the forefront of the solar industry, spearheading the first patent of a solar power roof tile and developing the UK’s largest roof installation as well as over 100MW of ground mount systems. He is regularly consulted by investors, equipment manufacturers and technical consultants on various matters. Spencer now leads the Development arm of Ethical Power, focused on creating new opportunities, fostering long-term partnerships and delivering innovative technologies and solutions across solar PV, battery energy storage and green hydrogen.

Glyn Thompson

Managing Director

Glyn’s extensive career spans numerous property development projects, oil exploration and various other operational roles across numerous industries. He joined Ethical Power in 2013 as Head of Operations and in that capacity ensured efficient and effective delivery of over 160MW of commercial solar projects. As the Managing Director for the Utilities arm of Ethical Power, Glyn oversees project manages our work in civils and construction sectors with a firm focus on profitable, reliable and versatile delivery.

David Martinez

David has over 10 years of experience in construction in renewables. He has strong technical knowledge and expertise in engineering, procurement and commissioning of various renewable energy projects. David is now in charge of the Spanish business supervising the design, construction, purchases, health & safety and financial procedures along with the day-to-day operations.

Matt Rowe

Managing Director
Ethical Power New Zealand

Matt is an expert in delivering successful projects having led Energy Procurement and Advisory Services teams, ensuring cost optimisation and on time delivery of large-scale developments. He now has over 20 years of experience working in the energy sector in Australasia and Europe. He’s in charge of the New Zealand entity, overseeing the delivery of 800MW solar pipeline.

Darren Tompkins

Managing Director
Ethical Power O&M

Darren joined us back in March of 2022. He has 12 years of solar experience working up from Solar Technician to SAP, to Operations Manager and now Head of Operations and Maintenance.

Specialist in EPC works and highly qualified with inverters, BESS and HV systems, Darren is trained and knowledgeable about all major inverter brands, as well as having hands-on experience with high voltage and commissioning works. Darren has been involved in the construction of over 600MW of solar in the UK and has further experience in operations and maintenance as well as asset management.

Amitoj Singh

A strategic business leader, Ami leads the general management and strategy for the ICP division of Ethical Power. Ami has over 18 years of experience in the energy industry, primarily in power generation and transmission, in the UK and internationally. He has previously worked for FTSE250 organisations such as SSE plc and Balfour Beatty plc.

Ami is a Fellow of Institution of Engineering and Technology, a Non-Executive Director at Zero Waste Scotland, Board member at two non-profit organisations (Lintel Trust, Streetfit Scotland), Council member at The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), mentor at The Migrant Leaders and Aberdeen Young Professionals (AYP) and an Executive Board Member of Association for Black and Ethnic Engineers (AFBE).

Outside work Ami enjoys playing and watching cricket, and spending time with his young family.

Francesca Cavallini

Francesca is leading Ethical Power’s expansion in Italy. Prior to joining Ethical Power, Francesca worked in senior roles within renewable energy companies including EDP Renewables and Gamesa. Most recently, in addition to overseeing the design and construction of the company’s logistics infrastructure, she expedited the connection of Amazon’s solar roofs on its buildings. She has been critical to the successful delivery of their projects in Trento, Bari, Perugia and many more.

Rachel Ruffle

Rachel Ruffle has 25 years of experience in the renewable energy sector and expertise in leading businesses and teams operating across various sectors, technologies and territories. She was also a member of The Renewables Infrastructure Group’s (TRIG’s) Advisory Committee since its inception in 2013 and a director of top industry trade bodies: Wind Europe, Energy UK and Renewable UK. As the COO, she oversees the delivery of strategic goals for Ethical Power’s global operations.

From a rooftop solar contractor in 2010, to a global renewable energy business recognised for best-quality and highest-performance assets.

  • 2010
    Ethical Power was founded by Thomas Kneen.
  • 2013
    First completed ground-mount solar PV project.
  • 2015
    First 10MW solar PV project built!
  • 2016
    The Operations & Maintenance division of Ethical Power is created.
  • 2017
    Ethical Power acquires 50% stake in HV Contractors Ltd to create Ethical Power Connections.
  • 2021
    Hive Energy acquires 50% of Ethical Power. Ethical Power España established. Lynher Energy fund established; funded 80% by Napier Park Global and 20% by Ethical Power.
  • Jan 2022
    Ethical Power New Zealand established with offices in Auckland.
  • Mar 2022
    Ethical Power Utilities formed with office in Ottery St Mary to deliver civils, groundworks and traditional construction projects. Lynher Energy fund acquires its first solar and BESS projects.
  • Jan 2023
    Ethical Power Hellas established with new office in Athens.
  • Mar 2023
    Ethical Power acquires the development business of Public Power Solutions with 250MW development pipeline. Ethical Power Italia established with office in Milan.
  • Jul 2023
    Ethical Power and partners complete sale of two operational solar parks to Fuse Energy, with total capacity of 17.2MW.
  • Aug 2023
    Ethical Power awarded the full wrap EPC contract for the 26 MW Twitch Hill Solar Farm in Shropshire.
  • Sep 2023
    Ethical Power secures £20 million loan from Thrive Renewables to further advance growth.
