About Langford Solar Farm

  • The 35 MW Langford Solar Farm is located in Devon and is the first of RWE’s solar farms to enter operation in the UK.
  • Ethical Power was selected by project owners RWE for full EPC services and will carry out all operation and maintenance work for a minimum of two years following energisation.
  • Langford Solar Farm will generate enough electricity to power approximately 15,000 typical UK homes.
  • There are over 75,000 bifacial solar panels at Langford Solar Farm.
  • The solar farm will support continued agricultural use through sheep grazing on site.

Sustainability at Langford Solar Farm

Langford Solar Farm boasts an impressive commitment to environmental protection and promotion, featuring Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) enhancements of over 50% net gain in habitat and 10% in hedgerows.

Some of the biodiversity measures Langford Solar Farm will benefit from include:

  • new species-rich grasslands
  • bird nesting boxes
  • bat roosting boxes
  • door mouse boxes
  • the creation of new Skylark habitats
  • ponding areas
  • mammal gates to facilitate the free movement of small animals
  • preserved corridors to enhance local ecosystems.

Sheep will also graze on site, feeding on delicious grass grown from specialised seed mixes. This give the landowner more options for sheep grazing and helps keep the grass low!

Ethical Power and RWE's Brunel portfolio

Ethical Power were selected is principal EPC for three solar farms within the “Brunel” portfolio, as well as ICP contracts for two more projects.
