About Fundici Solar Farm

  • The 55 MW Fundici Solar Farm is located near Guillena, Sevilla and is the first plant built by Ethical Power in Spain.
  • Ethical Power was selected by project owners Encavis for full EPC services and will carry out all operation and maintenance work for a minimum of two years following energisation.
  • The Fundici Solar Farm is built over 296 acres using 88,760 solar modules.
  • Once energised, Fundici Solar Park will generate enough energy to power around 28,300 homes each year.
  • A grid connection has already been secured for the project with Endesa, Spain’s largest utility company.
  • Ethical Power installed the pylons and cables needed to carry the connection 9km to the 132 kV Fundiciones Caetano substation.
  • The project was originally developed by Hive Energy before being sold to Encavis AG.

Technology at Fundici Solar Farm

Due to the sun’s intensity at the Fundici site, we cannot use the same panels as in many of our UK solar farms. Instead, N-type panels will be used on this site, which are known for having better performance at high temperatures and less light-induced degradation.

This increased reliability and resistance means that, once energised, Fundici Solar Park will generate enough energy to power around 28,300 homes each year.

Sustainability at Fundici Solar Farm

As part of our growing employment of agrivoltaics, up to 1000 sheep will use the land for grazing while the panels provide protection against the fierce Iberian sun. The sheep will also help control the growth of vegetation on site and reduce the risk of wildfires.

A detailed environmental plan was followed which complied with all environmental regulations, such as the conservation of a unique plant species in this area of Spain, El Palmito (Chamaerops humilis). Many streams and creeks cross the site, and all riparian species were included in the biodiversity plan, ensuring minimal impact to their growth.

Comprehensive waste segregation and dust emission reduction measures were also set up on-site to mitigate the physical imprint of the construction.
