The proposed 49.5MW solar project at Cobham Road in Fetcham, will cover an area of 123 acres and produce enough energy to power over 13,000 homes.
The project was initiated in 2022 and is currently in the stage of development where planning surveys are being undertaken. Construction is expected to start in 2027, subject to obtaining the necessary planning permissions. Once completed, the solar park will will generate green power for approximately 40 years, after which the land will be restored to its original state.
At Ethical Power, we prioritise connections with the local community and public consultation events are at the heart of this approach. They help us gain support for the project and inform the public of all the benefits the solar development will bring to the community.
For the Cobham Road project, a community benefit fund of £300 per MW, approximately £15,000 per annum, will be set up. Previous recipients of community benefit funds have used the money for various improvements such as new children’s play equipment or upgrades to local facilities. In addition, we are actively considering a community investment scheme for this development.
Over 100 residents attended the public consultation event to meet the team behind the Cobham Road project and learn more about the development.
Our team shared the insights about the project while eagerly listening to the valuable feedback from the residents. The passion and dedication of the local community were truly inspiring. We were pleased to see that the feedback provided about the proposed development was positive.
