[Bristol, 2 May 2023] Ethical Power, a leading international developer, builder and operator of solar photovoltaic projects, has begun works on the 45MW Larport Solar Farm in Herefordshire, developed and owned by Conrad Energy.
Conrad Energy is the largest flexible energy producer in the UK and Larport Solar Farm was the first solar farm project they’ve developed. Ethical Power, as an EPC contractor, completed the final due diligence on the project, including design optimization and engineering review.
“Our partnership with Conrad Energy has spanned multiple areas over the years but the project in Herefordshire is our first solar PV build for them. We are very excited about delivering this exceptional project,” comments Neil Buck, Managing Director of Ethical Power Ltd.
George Hall, Project Manager for the site, said “Conrad Energy are very pleased to be working with Ethical Power on this project, and it builds on the long-term relationship between the two companies. We are very excited to see work start on this flagship project.”
The project area of 120 acres will cover the solar park and an extensive part of land dedicated to biodiversity enhancement, featuring natural grassland and wildflower meadows. The project is expected to deliver a significant biodiversity gain for the area over the course of its 40-year lifespan. Preliminary works have already commenced with Ethical Power’s civils arm (Ethical Power Utilities) already on site.
Larport Solar Farm is due to commission in 2024 and will generate approximately 44,000 MWh annually. Conrad Energy has secured an offtake agreement for the green power generated on site through a power purchase agreement (PPA) with BNP Paribas, as announced last month.
Ethical Power’s operations and maintenance team will monitor the site once operational, ensuring the plant’s optimal efficiency and maximising the value of investment for Conrad Energy.
