The 140-acre Burcot Energy Park is a co-located solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located in South Oxfordshire. The project will generate enough green energy to power approximately 18,000 homes per annum. With all necessary planning permissions secured, Chint Solar will further prepare the project for construction and will act as EPC. Burcot Energy Park is expected to be connected to the grid in 2027. It is the first solar farm in England to be designated as grey belt development under the new national planning policies.
To stimulate biodiversity, a range of new habitats, including grassland, native woodland, and hedgerows with a diverse mix of species will be introduced. In addition, nesting and foraging opportunities for birds as well as refuge, breeding, and hibernation grounds for reptiles and amphibians will be provided, contributing to an expected overall biodiversity net gain (BNG) for the site of 86.7%.
Mark van Rij, Country Manager UK at Chint Solar: “Acquiring Burcot Energy Park underlines our commitment to develop and realise multi-technology assets in the United Kingdom that ensure a reliable, future-proof grid.
