Solar and Storage Live 2025

Solar and Storage Live 2025 was another roaring success!

Solar and Storage is the biggest event of the year, and we exhibited across all three days, meeting with valued clients and partners and discussing all things solar and BESS.

Solar and Storage Live 2025 boasted over 20,000 visitors, hundreds and exhibitors, and high-profile speakers such as Chris Hewett, Chief Executive at Solar Energy UK, Ben Godfrey, Director of Distribution System Operator, National Grid, Carmen Madrid, Founder of Women in Solar Europe, and a televised address from Michael Shanks MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero.

This was a big year for Solar and Storage, and it has been a big year for us! We have delivered multiple quality solar and BESS builds all over the UK, commissioned the 55MW Fundici Solar Farm in Spain, and started work on two solar builds in New Zealand, including the 130MW Ruakaka Solar Farm!

We are also very proud to have been named as a supplier on the Crown Commercial Service’s Provision of Power Purchase Agreement framework. This positions Ethical Power as one of only six companies able to support some of the nation’s most essential institutions, including the NHS, Network Rail, the Ministry of Defence, various government departments, universities, and emergency services, in their transition to net zero.

As an agile, 100% privately-owned, UK-based company, we are constantly finding new ways to deliver value to our clients and lead the market in integrity, innovation, and excellence. Events like Solar and Storage are some of the best places to incubate and share those ideas.

With so many valuable discussions with clients, contractors, and suppliers this week, it’s easy to overlook the impact of the keynotes and panels. So, what were the main takeaways?

There’s a clear optimism in the UK renewables industry, reflecting our own experience. Renewable energy means jobs, energy security, and economic growth. The UK is leading in deploying high-quality clean energy, powering over five million homes already.

Challenges remain though, most notably skills and training. Simply put, we need more people, faster. The UK has some of the brightest minds in renewable energy, but the industry must invest in training the workforce that will deliver a modern, green-powered grid.

The panel on planning and land use reform also resonated with our experience. Jonathan Scurlock, the NFU’s Chief Advisor on Renewable Energy and Climate Change, highlighted that solar farms pose no threat to food security, occupying only a tiny fraction of agricultural land. The panel agreed that the real threat to UK farming is climate change.

That’s why companies like Ethical Power must continue delivering clean energy and innovate multi-purpose land use, such as on-site sheep grazing and other forms of agrivoltaics.

Behind all this is the imperative to remember our roots. The vision and ambition that kicked off the industry may suffer from its own success. The case for renewables has long since been made. Business is good, but this means we are subject to different pressures and influences.

We should remember that we are part of an amazing movement to rebuild better and make sure renewables continue to work for the client, community, and environment.

Our experience at Solar and Storage Live 2025 showed us that the passion, knowledge, and commitment remain in the industry and in the government, and we are proud to be at the leading edge of renewable energy in the UK and across the world!

We have over 15 years of experience in developing, delivering, and operating solar farms and battery storage facilities under our belt, but we are always working on new ways to apply and refine our experience.
