Solar and Storage 2024 Wrap-up

After last year’s success, we were very excited for Solar and Storage Live 2024, and it did not disappoint!

Solar and Storage Live is not just any old trade show, it is the PV and BESS trade show.

As well as being one of the year’s most important networking events, we were also shortlisted for the “Utility Scale Solar and/or Storage Project of the Year” award and had two of our team invited to deliver keynote speeches!

Seeing the next generation of renewable energy experts at the Recruitment Zone was another huge encouragement. If the enthusiasm and energy we saw there is anything to go by, we are in safe hands.

Ethical Power has also grown significantly in the past 12 months, both in the UK and abroad, and will continue to grow. Our experience at Solar and Storage 2024 was a testament to all our hard work over the past 12 months.

Solar and Storage Awards

Going to Solar and Storage is exciting enough, but this year we were delighted to win the “Utility Scale Solar and/or Storage Project of the Year” award for our work on the Berkeley battery energy storage solution (BESS) project!

Berkeley BESS is a 50MW/58MWh project in Gloucestershire which was energised in May 2024 and is owned by SMS Plc.

We integrated integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into early-stage project planning, with an added focus on carbon emission reduction.

Being recognised for our commitment to excellence in delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects is a huge honour, but we aren’t resting on our laurels so keep your eyes peeled for future projects!

The Stand

We worked with Quadrant2Design to develop a sustainable and reusable exhibition stand, complete with our new branding. Even better, our new custom design is modular, meaning we can reuse it at shows with different space restrictions or just try out new configurations!

Our team spent the week discussing EPC installs, the future of BESS, and our expanded operations and maintenance (O&M) services with many industry partners, subcontractors, and potential recruits. For those who weren’t able to attend, get in touch today to find out what you missed!

Having an open, welcoming space to greet people at exhibitions is wonderful, but having private areas for one-on-ones is even better. The coffee machine didn’t hurt either!

Sharing our Experience and Expertise

Our team weren’t just busy at the stand or at the awards ceremony, we also provided two speakers to deliver presentations on innovation and excellence.

Director of Development Steve Cains took to the stage with his presentation “Innovation and Partnerships: How to Build Mutually Beneficial Projects with Communities and Landowners“.

Here he emphasised the importance of fostering strong partnerships based on trust, leveraging innovation to create projects that benefit both the stakeholders and the local community.

Later that day, Ethical Power analyst Nicholas Evans delivered a keynote speech breaking down the finer points of “Energy Procurement and CPPAs”. Nick laid out strategies for organisations looking to hedge their energy procurement and deliver on ESG commitments. With many viable options on the table, this was a vital roadmap for corporates.

In both cases, the audience was wonderful and we fielded some great questions, highlighting just how engaged the industry is in continuous improvement and Ethical Power’s leading role in this endeavour.

We can’t wait for next year!
