[Bristol, May 2025] ā Ethical Power has confirmed that full planning permission has been granted for three new solar farms, Langer Lane, Kirkgate, and Burcot Road Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage Project, representing the next phase in the companyās commitment to a low-carbon future.
āWeāre pleased to see strong momentum building for our solar development pipeline with a hat-trick of planning approvals,ā said Steve Cains, Director of Development at Ethical Power.Ā āThe permissions for Burcot, Kirkgate, and Langer Lane demonstrate both the high demand for renewable infrastructure as well as the quality of our design and planning teams. Weāre excited about the other upcoming projects in development and remain committed to working closely with communities and stakeholders at every stage.ā
Burcot Solar Farm is a 49.9 MW co-located solar PV and BESS site located in South Oxfordshire. It will benefit from an 86.7% biodiversity net gain, and the site will remain in agricultural use by way of sheep grazing. Historic maps and aerial photography will be used to help restore the grain of the landscape to what it was during the pre-war years.
Langer Lane is a 7.5 MW solar farm development in Wingerworth Parish, 2.5km south of Chesterfield that would generate enough energy to power approximately 3,990 homes per annum.
The 6 MW Kirkgate scheme is located in a former mining area in West Yorkshire and will benefit from a net gain of 135% in habitat units, helping the local environment recover from its previous industrial use.
Each project has undergone comprehensive environmental assessments and extensive community consultations to ensure long-term benefits and minimal disruption.
Ethical Powerās growing development portfolio is part of its broader mission to accelerate the UKās transition to clean energy through full-wrap services, taking projects from conception to construction and completion.
